24 hours for my river

24 hours for my river

Over 24 consecutive hours, dozens of divers and more than 200 volunteers helped clean up the Lachine waterfront, covering at least 700 metres of shoreline, from the Lachine Pier to the Marina d’Escale Park. During the night, they also enjoyed a barbecue and watched a documentary on water protection.

The weekend was a resounding success due to the amount of waste that was collected and the raised awareness of the realities of our waterways. Who would have imagined that a motorcycle lay at the bottom of the river in Lachine, or that we’d find the skateboard of a child who had notified us of its loss several years before?
